Summer Garden Tablescape
It's almost August. Time to make the most of being outdoors. I do so enjoy being in my garden even if many of my flowers are just past their best and the grass is feeling a little bit crispy. There is always something very nourishing about connecting with nature, the warmth of the sun and just observing the wildlife. Eating outside is another simple pleasure especially when it's combined with some outdoor floral faffing!
Using a few summer blooms in up-cycled bottles and flower pots, which I can then plant up, is not only thrifty but it’s greener too. I recommend buying individual stems from a local florist or market stall. That way you get a good mix of flowers without having to invest in big bunches. Stems of Moroccan Mint picked from the garden are great fragrant gap fillers. Homegrown Privet adds leafy loveliness whilst Wild Grass introduces visual flow.
I made a little posy to display in my mini watering can. This created a floral focal centre point for my table. I bunched the flowers together in my hand, adding a stem at a time and tied them with twine.
I placed the mini watering can posy in the centre of my table creating the floral focus and then arranged the candlesticks around it. I began to add the flower bottles, dotting them in between the bowls, tumblers and glasses. I checked they were spaced relatively evenly along the length of the table and that the heights were nicely mixed up.
