Blooms to Inspire and Admire!
There’s so much to inspire us in the garden in June. Flushes of Roses, floaty Phlox, spirited Snapdragons, heavenly Hydrangeas, adorable Asters and one of my all time favourites scented Sweet Peas. If your garden is not quite in bloom there are so many lovely local National Open Gardens to see. The National Garden Scheme gives visitors unique access to over 3,300 exceptional private gardens in the UK.
But if you want to actually get your hands on some locally picked fresh flowers then check out Flowers From the Farm. A trade association of over 1,000 UK flower farmers. It links those who want to buy flowers with those who grow flowers. It also happens to be how I found Fiona at Chiltern Sky Flowers whose beautiful florals were the inspiration for many of my seasonal cards.
Deciding on which flowers to pick for my cards can feel like being like a child in a sweet shop! I want them all! I find creating a moodboard really helps to focus my mind. Gathering together pictures from magazines, seed packets, postcards and flower books. And if that doesn't work then we can photograph them all!
